Indoor water leak detection process

Before the home leak detection work is carried out, we must first determine whether the pipeline is really leaking and how to locator the pipeline leakage. We usually conduct a pressure holding test to determine whether the water pipeline is leaking

1.Turn off all water in the house and observe whether the water meter is moving. If it moves, it indicates that there is a suspicion of water leakage. If not, indicating suspicion is small, but it cannot be 100% sure not leaking (for example, the micro-leakage the water meter does not move, and the residents downstairs report that there is a leak on the roof of his house), and there may be other factors that are not caused by pipes’ Leaking noise.

2. Close the main valve of the water inlet pipe, then close all the faucets and angle valves in the house, and then remove a faucet to suppress (usually press 8-10 kg). If possible, it is best to remove all the faucets in the house and block them with plugs (to avoid damaging the faucets). Pay special attention to the fact that the water inlet pipe of the water heater must be removed. When measuring pressure, the pipe openings to be suppressed should be kept away from the leaking area as far as possible to avoid the interference of suppressing noise. (Note: In some cases, the pressure test can be performed directly from the water heater inlet pipe)

3:Under normal circumstances, first press the cold water pipe. If the cold water pipe does not leak after passing the pressure test, the hot water pipe needs to be pressure-maintained to see if the hot water pipe is leaking.

4. After suppressing the pipeline, check whether the pressure drops according to the length of time. If the pressure drops, it can be determined that the pipeline is suspected of leaking. (There are two common situations: ① Generally, the water leakage is first discovered by the residents downstairs in the house, and the speed of the water leakage downstairs can be observed. Under normal circumstances, the pressure drop speed upstairs and the water leakage speed downstairs are directly proportional. The pressure drop speed of the pipeline is very slow, and the water leakage downstairs is large, it means that it is not the leakage of the pressure holding water pipe upstairs, but it is caused by other reasons. ②When pressure detection, first use a pressure booster to perform a water pressure detection to observe whether the pipeline is leaking. If there is water leakage, change the air pressure after confirming that the pipeline is leaking, and use a leak detector to detect) After confirming that there is indeed a leak in the owner's tap water pipeline, we must understand the location and direction of the owner's tap water pipeline.
